Citizen Congress

Citizen Congress

Congress should be made up of citizens, not career politicians. The only way to make this happen is to implement term limits on congress (the President and Vice-President are already subject to term limits). Our current unlimited term system gives politicians incentives to self-deal and promote special interests in order to prolong their Washington, DC, careers. What if their career in congress were limited from the start?  And what if they knew it?

Our Simple Premise®: Our Proposal: No person can be elected to either house of Congress after having served in 6 congresses (12 years).

What does this effectively mean? You can only run for office if you have not already served 12 years. For example, two terms as a Senator, or 6 terms as a Representative. Alternatively, you could serve 5 terms as a representative, then run for Senate, and max out at 16 years of service.
